Kara Zor-El was born to Lara Lor-Van and Alura In-Ze in an attempt by Faora Hu-Ul to create a New Krypton, when her parents realised the lengths that Faora was willing to go to for New Krypton they sent Kara away in a rocket. She fell to Earth, landing in the country of Russia.

She was found by Ipati Dugin and his wife Varvara Dugina who adopted her into their family and raised her as Kara Starikov, along with her foster sister Kortni Duginovna.

As young women, Kara and Kortni enlisted into Russia's Soviet Air Force, as members of the Night Witches, the homeland's most lethal bombers. However, during training day, Kortni's plane engine exploded in midair. Kara jumped from her own plane and flew in to save her. They both landed on the ground safely and were immediately arrested as traitors to their country. They were brought before General Anton Arkayn, where Kara was interrogated on her unusual powers. After proving their loyalty to their homeland, Kara and Kortni became the new faces of Russia's resistance, as Supergirl and Stargirl.

Supergirl is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by writer Otto Binder and designed by artist Al Plastino. Supergirl first appeared in a story published in Action Comics #252 (May 1959) titled "The Supergirl from Krypton".

Kara Zor-El is the biological cousin of Kal-El (Superman). Since the character's comic book debut, Kara Zor-El's Supergirl has been adapted into various media, including merchandise, television, and film. However, during the 1980s and the revolution of the Modern Age of Comics, Superman editors believed the character's history had become too convoluted, and desired to re-establish Superman as "The Last Son of Krypton". Supergirl was thus killed during the 1985 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths and retconned out of existence. In the decades following Crisis, several characters unrelated to Superman used the Supergirl alias.

Kara Zor-El re-entered mainstream continuity in 2004 when DC Comics Senior Vice President and Executive Editor Dan DiDio, along with editor Eddie Berganza and comic book writer Jeph Loeb, reintroduced the character in the Superman/Batman storyline "The Supergirl from Krypton". The title paid homage to the original character's 1959 debut. As the current Supergirl, Kara Zor-El stars in her own monthly comic book series. With DC's 2011 relaunch, Kara, like most of the DC Universe, was revamped. DC relaunched the Supergirl comic in August 2016 as part of their DC Rebirth initiative. Several actors have played Supergirl in a motion picture and TV series including Helen SlaterLaura Vandervoort, and most recently Melissa Benoist in a shared DC Arrowverse.

bust is a sculpted or cast representation of the upper part of the human figure, depicting a person's headand neck, and a variable portion of the chest and shoulders. The piece is normally supported by a plinth. The bust is generally a portrait intended to record the appearance of an individual, but may sometimes represent a type. They may be of any medium used for sculpture, such as marblebronzeterracottaplaster, wax or wood.

As a format that allows the most distinctive characteristics of an individual to be depicted with much less work, and therefore expense, and occupying far less space than a full-length statue, the bust has been since ancient times a popular style of life-size portrait sculpture. It can also be executed in weaker materials, such as terracotta.

A sculpture that only includes the head, perhaps with the neck, is more strictly called a "head", but this distinction is not always observed.
