Wootbox Animals - Subscription Box - (Wootbox June 2020)

Animals (also referred to as metazoa) are multicellular eukaryotic organisms that form the biological kingdom Animalia. With few exceptions, animals consume organic material , breathe oxygen , are able to move , can reproduce sexually , and grow from a hollow sphere of cells, the blastula , during embryonic development . Over 1.5 million living animal species have been described —of which around 1 million are insects —but it has been estimated there are over 7 million animal species in total. Animals range in length from 8.5 millionths of a metre to 33.6 metres (110 ft). They have complex interactions with each other and their environments, forming intricate food webs . The kingdom Animalia includes humans , but in colloquial use, the term animal often refers only to non-human animals. The scientific study of animals is known as zoology . Most living animal species are in the Bilateria , a clade whose members have a bilaterally symmetric body plan. The Bilateria include t...

Cat - The Internet is ours - T-shirt - (Hitek Box Gold - August 2018)

The Internet is the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of private, public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope, linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries a vast range of information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents and applications of the World Wide Web (WWW), electronic mail , telephony , and file sharing . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet ------------------------------ The domestic cat (Felis silvestris catus or Felis catus) is a small, typically furry , carnivorous mammal . They are often called house cats when kept as indoor pets or simply cats when there is no need to distinguish them from other felids and felines . They are often valued by humans for companionship and for their ability to hun...

Praying Mantis - Metalcraft

Image
Mantises are an order (Mantodea) of insects that contains over 2,400 species in about 430 genera in 15 families. The largest family is the Mantidae ("mantids"). Mantises are distributed worldwide in temperate and tropical habitats. They have triangular heads with bulging eyes supported on flexible necks. Their elongated bodies may or may not have wings, but all Mantodea have forelegs that are greatly enlarged and adapted for catching and gripping prey; their upright posture, while remaining stationary with forearms folded, has led to the common name praying mantis . The closest relatives of mantises are the termites and cockroaches ( Blattodea ), which are all within the superorder Dictyoptera . Mantises are sometimes confused with stick insects ( Phasmatodea ), other elongated insects such as grasshoppers ( Orthoptera ), or other unrelated insects with raptorial forelegs such as mantisflies ( Mantispidae ). Mantises are mostly ambush predators , but a few grou...

Stag beetle - Metalcraft

Image
Stag beetles are a group of about 1,200 species of beetles in the family Lucanidae, presently classified in four subfamilies. Some species grow up to over 12 cm (4.7 in), but most are about 5 cm (2.0 in).  The English name is derived from the large and distinctive mandibles found on the males of most species, which resemble the antlers of stags .  A well-known species in much of Europe is Lucanus cervus , referred to in some European countries (including United Kingdom ) as "the" stag beetle (it is the largest terrestrial insect in Europe). Pliny the Elder noted that Nigidius called the stag beetle lucanus after the Italian region of Lucania where they were used as amulets. The scientific name of Lucanus cervus is this word, plus cervus, deer .  Male stag beetles use their jaws to wrestle each other for favoured mating sites in a manner that parallels the way stags fight over females. Fights may also be over food, such as tree sap and decaying frui...

Scorpion - Metalcraft

Image
Scorpions are predatory arachnids of the order Scorpiones. They have eight legs and are easily recognized by the pair of grasping pedipalps and the narrow, segmented tail, often carried in a characteristic forward curve over the back, ending with a venomous stinger . Scorpions range in size from 9 mm / 0.3 in. ( Typhlochactas mitchelli ) to 23 cm / 9 in. ( Heterometrus swammerdami ). The evolutionary history of scorpions goes back to the Silurian era 430 million years ago. They have adapted to a wide range of environmental conditions and can now be found on all continents except Antarctica. Scorpions number about 1750 described species , with 13 extant (living) families recognised to date. The taxonomy has undergone changes and is likely to change further, as genetic studies are bringing forth new information. All scorpions have a venomous sting, but the vast majority of the species do not represent a serious threat to humans and in most cases healthy adults do...

Tarantula - Metalcraft

Image
Tarantulas comprise a group of large and often hairy arachnids belonging to the Theraphosidae family of spiders , of which about 900 species have been identified. This article only describes members of the Theraphosidae, although some other members of the same infraorder (Mygalomorphae) are commonly referred to as "tarantulas". Except in cases of anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction), no species of tarantula is dangerous to humans, and some species have become popular in the exotic pet trade. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarantula

Tyrannosaurus Rex - Papercraft

Image
Tyrannosaurus ( /tᵻˌrænəˈsɔːrəs/ or /taɪˌrænəˈsɔːrəs/ , meaning "tyrant lizard", from the Ancient Greek tyrannos (τύραννος), "tyrant", and sauros (σαῦρος), "lizard") is a genus of coelurosaurian theropod dinosaur . The species Tyrannosaurus rex (rex meaning "king" in Latin ), is one of the most well-represented of the large theropods. Tyrannosaurus lived throughout what is now western North America, on what was then an island continent known as Laramidia . Tyrannosaurus had a much wider range than other tyrannosaurids . Fossils are found in a variety of rock formations dating to the Maastrichtian age of the upper Cretaceous Period , 68 to 66 million years ago . It was the last known member of the tyrannosaurids , and among the last non- avian dinosaurs to exist before the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrannosaurus -------------------------------- Paper craft  is the collection of  art  ...
