The Batmobile is the fictional car driven by the superhero Batman . Housed in the Batcave , which it accesses through a hidden entrance, the Batmobile is both a heavily armored tactical assault vehicle and a personalized custom-built pursuit and capture vehicle that is used by Batman in his fight against crime. Using the latest civilian performance technology, coupled with prototype military-grade hardware—most of which was developed by Wayne Enterprises —Batman creates an imposing hybrid monster to prowl the streets of Gotham City . The Batmobile first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939), where it was depicted as an ordinary-looking red car. The character is not named after actor and race driver   Steve McQueen , but after Pixar animator   Glenn McQueen   who died in 2002. His design is inspired by a stock car and "a more curvaceous   Le Mans   endurance racer," with "some   Lola   and some   Ford GT40 ." During the scene where he helps restore Radiator Springs to its 1950s heyday, he is painted much like a 1950s   Chevrolet Corvette C1 , once again hinting at his Corvette lineage. Deadpool  (Wade Winston Wilson) is a fictional character appearing in  American comic books  published by  Marvel Comics . Created by writer  Fabian Nicieza  and artist/writer  Rob Liefeld , the character first appeared in  The New Mutants  #98 ( cover-dated  February 1991). Initially Deadpool was depicted as a supervillain when he made his first appearance in The New Mutants and later in issues of X-Force, but later evolved into his more recognizable antiheroic persona. Deadpool, whose real name is Wade Wilson, is a disfigured and deeply disturbed  mercenary  and  assassin  with the superhuman ability of an accelerated  healing factor  and physical prowess.
