A longtime menace to Gotham City, Edward Nigma, a.k.a. The Riddler, gets his devious kicks by challenging Batman to puzzling mind games. But now the game has changed - arch-villain Bane has injected the Riddler with the drug Venom, giving him super-strength and a mean new edge. The fate of Gotham City's population now rests in Batman's ability to solve The Riddler's latest puzzle, while at the same time battling this newly-created monster who's armed with a weapon that fires question mark ammo. It's an all-out battle of brains and brawn !

In 1994, Kenner released a whole new line of Batman action figures which included all new sculpts instead of reused molds of old figures. The Legends of Batman line of figures included several Elseworlds versions of Batman, but also included true to comic versions of several Batman characters including Knightquest Batman, KnightsEnd Batman, Nightwing, The Joker, Catwoman and The Riddler. This line never gained popularity, though, and was cancelled soon after its debut. Several years later, WB Stores were offered exclusive repainted sculpts of the Legends of Batman line of figures.

According to a study in Sweden, action figures with traditional masculine traits primarily target boys. While most commonly marketed as a children's toy, the action figure has gained wide acceptance as an adult collector item. In such a case, the item may be produced and designed on the assumption it will be bought solely for display.
