Stan Lee  (born Stanley Martin Lieber  /ˈliːbər/ ; December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018) was an American  comic book  writer, editor, publisher, and producer. He rose through the ranks of a family-run business to become  Marvel Comics ' primary creative leader for two decades, leading its expansion from a small division of a publishing house to a  multimedia  corporation that dominated the comics and movie industries. In collaboration with others at Marvel—particularly co-writers/artists  Jack Kirby  and  Steve Ditko —he co-created numerous popular fictional characters, including  superheroes   Spider-Man , the  X-Men ,  Iron Man ,  Thor , the  Hulk ,  Ant-Man , the  Wasp , the  Fantastic Four ,  Black Panther ,  Daredevil ,  Doctor Strange ,  Scarlet Witch , the  Black Widow  and  Captain Marvel . Newton Artemis Fido  "Newt" Scamander ,  O.M. (Second Class) , was a famed  Magizoologist  and author of  Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them . Early in life, Scamander developed an interest in magical  Creatures , influenced by his  mother 's breeding of  hippogriffs . He attended  Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry , where he was sorted into  Hufflepuff House , and was sentenced to expulsion, though  Albus Dumbledore  protested his innocence. Scamander joined the  Ministry of Magic , spending two years in the  Office for House-Elf Relocation  before joining the  Beast Division . In  1918 , he was commissioned by  Augustus Worme  of  Obscurus Books to write Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
