A jumper or jersey ( British English ), or sweater ( American English ) is a garment intended to cover the torso and arms. A jumper is either a pullover or a cardigan , distinguished in that cardigans open at the front while pullovers do not. Some British dictionaries include cardigans as a type of jumper, while others do not; in the latter case, there is no hypernym equivalent to sweater covering both pullovers and cardigans. Sweaters are worn by adults and children of all genders; often over a shirt , blouse , T-shirt , or other top, but sometimes next to the skin. Sweaters were traditionally made from wool , but can now be made of cotton , synthetic fibers , or any combination thereof. The Magical Congress of the United States of America (shortened  MACUSA ) is the magical body in charge of governing the wizarding population of the  United States of America . It is led by the  President of the Magical Congress of the United States of America . Quidditch  is a fictional sport, created by author  J. K. Rowling  in her fantasy fiction series  Harry Potter.  The story of Harry Potter centers around wizards and witches studying their magical craft at  Hogwarts : School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Born out of the lore of witches using flying broomsticks for transportation, Quidditch was developed by the author as the most popular sport in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter; a complex game played completely in the air by players on flying broomsticks. Ravenclaw  is one of the four  Houses  of  Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry , founded by  Rowena Ravenclaw . Members of this house are characterised by their wit, learning, and wisdom. Its house colours are blue and bronze, and its symbol is an eagle. The house  ghost , who in life was the daughter of the house's founder  Rowena Ravenclaw , is the  Grey Lady . The Hogwarts Express is the name of the train that makes a run between London , King's Cross Station Platform 9¾ and Hogsmeade Station . It makes this run at about six times a year, maybe more, as needed. The Express dutifully carries students to and from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the start and end of every term.  The train leaves Platform 9¾ without fail on 1 September at 11 o'clock in the morning, arriving at Hogsmeade Station in the early evening. Some students take the train back to King's Cross Station to go home for the Christmas and Easter holidays, but some do not, as they stay at Hogwarts. The Hogwarts letter is a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry , sent to British wizards and witches prior to their first year at Hogwarts. A special quill exists, which writes down the name of every magical child in Britain at the time of their birth. This allows Hogwarts letters to be sent to all magical children at the appropriate time, even those who are Muggle-born . The Hogwarts letter consists of a note of acceptance from the Deputy Headmaster or Headmistress of Hogwarts. Gryffindor  is one of the four  Houses  of  Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry , founded by  Godric Gryffindor . Godric instructed the sorting hat to choose a few particular characteristics he most values. Such character traits of students  Sorted  into Gryffindor are courage, chivalry, and determination. The emblematic animal is a  lion , and its colours are scarlet and gold. Sir  Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington , also known as "Nearly Headless Nick" is the house ghost. Gryffindor corresponds roughly to the element of  fire , and it is for that reason that the colours scarlet and gold were chosen to represent the House.
