TIE fighter pilots , also known as Imperial Starfighter Pilots, were an elite class within the military of the Galactic Empire . They piloted the TIE/ln space superiority starfighters , one of the Empire's most recognizable symbols of power. There were two nicknames for TIE pilots: the vac-heads, who operated in space for the Empire's Imperial Navy , and the ground-hogs, who operated in planetary atmosphere for the Imperial Army . Because the vac-heads had better public recognition through propaganda posters and the HoloNet News reports, the ground-hogs were often resentful of them. The Grand Inquisitor , commonly known simply as the Inquisitor, was the name adopted by a Pau'an male Jedi Knight who turned to the dark side of the Force and became the leader of the Inquisitorius , a band of Jedi hunters who served the Galactic Empire . The Grand Inquisitor was once a Jedi Temple Guard and was involved in the events surrounding the bombing of the Jedi Temple during the Clone Wars , arresting the innocent and later exonerated Padawan Ahsoka Tano as well as the true culprit, Barriss Offee . After his fall to the dark side, the Grand Inquisitor was responsible for hunting down and eliminating Jedi during the Jedi Purge . Tasu Leech was the leader of Kanjiklub , a criminal organization active approximately thirty years after the Battle of Endor . Leech refused to speak a word of Galactic Basic , considering it a "soft language for soft people." Tasu Leech had defeated many would-be usurpers to his command, as the Kanjiklub tradition went that the leader may be challenged to combat by his underlings, for control of the position. He wielded a "Huttsplitter" blaster rifle , custom made by his lieutenant, Razoo Qin-Fee . The Huttsplitter earned its name due to the history of the Kanjiklub's home planet, Nar Kanji , that used to be subjugated by the Hutts . The human colonists later overthrew the Hutt Cartel , and struck out on their own.
